DECOL Africa is DECOL Services Ltd's dedicated regional desk for Africa. Cases are handled by native-language collectors and escalated to locally-admitted counsel where required.
Recovery in South Africa (Magistrates & High Court), Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Tanzania.
OHADA Uniform Act on Simplified Recovery Procedures — injonction de payer enforceable across 17 member states.
Arabic-language recovery in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria through partner counsel.
Settlement structured in USD or EUR where local currency controls are a concern.
Debtor profile check — jurisdiction, currency, exchange-control exposure.
Native-language handler contacts the debtor — English, French, Arabic or Portuguese.
Partner advocate files locally — Magistrates Court (SA), Nigerian High Court, injonction de payer (OHADA).
Where possible, settle in USD/EUR to bypass local exchange-control friction.
The 17 OHADA member states share a single Uniform Act on Simplified Recovery Procedures — an injonction de payer obtained in one member state is directly enforceable across all others. Anglophone Africa follows common-law procedures inherited from English law. Egypt and Morocco apply civil-law commercial codes with 15-year limitation periods for commercial claims.
Jurisdictions covered: South Africa · Nigeria · Kenya · Egypt · Morocco · OHADA (17 member states)
Several African markets (Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia) restrict outbound FX. We structure settlements in USD or EUR where possible, and use offshore escrow through partner banks for larger recoveries.
Yes — an injonction de payer obtained in Côte d'Ivoire or Senegal is directly enforceable in any of the 17 OHADA states without re-litigation.
